The high plateau of the Alpe di Siusi offers a wide variety of routes: from easy and family-friendly to challenging hikes to the Dolomite peaks such as the Sciliar, the Denti di Terrarossa, the Sassolungo and the Sassopiatto. You can also take beautiful tours through meadows and forests around the villages of Castelrotto and Fiè allo Sciliar. Thanks to the pleasant temperatures, the Alpe di Siusi is a true hiker's paradise. Every season has its own charm. In autumn the plateau presents itself in unique shades of red, orange and bronze.

Hike from Fiè allo Sciliar to Siusi and Castelrotto: This beautiful hike, which can be done at any time of year, leads from San Antonio to Fiè pond and on to Siusi allo Sciliar. The village of San Antonio is a good starting point for this tour as it has a large car park and a bus stop. A well-marked trail first leads to the idyllic Fiè pond and then to Siusi and Castelrotto, where you can easily return to the starting point by bus.

On the circular trail from Monte Bullaccia to the Panche delle Streghe: This hike around the 2,176 m high Monte Bullaccia awaits you with great panoramic views. Compaccio is the starting point of the tour and can be reached comfortably with the Alpe di Siusi cable car. Follow the signposted trail across meadows and alpine pastures with magnificent views of the Dolomites to the Panche delle Streghe (witches' benches). These stone formations are an ancient occult site where the witches of the Sciliar are said to have gathered until the Middle Ages.

On the Geology Trail from Siusi to the Alpe di Siusi: From Bagni di Ratzes near Siusi, the Geology Trail leads to the Prossliner Alp and to the Malghetta Sciliar hut. The nature trail was set up by the Nature Park Office of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano and includes 10 stations with information boards about the geology of the Dolomites. The trail leads past beautiful waterfalls and slightly uphill from 1,212 m to 1,740 m above sea level.

The Alpe di Siusi Dolomites region offers lots of fun for the whole family. All year round, young and old can go on a voyage of discovery through the Dolomites with the Dolomiti Ranger nature programme, for example, and look for animal tracks alongside a ranger.

In addition, thematic trails such as the Oswald von Wolkenstein Trail or the Mushroom Trail are waiting to be explored. Horse riding and carriage rides are possible all year round. Hiking trails suitable for pushchairs and easy walks for the whole family round off the offer.

A biking holiday on the Alpe di Siusi offers a wide range of bike tours with technically demanding climbs and easy trails. If you are looking for a real challenge, you are in the right place.

Exciting trails and spectacular descents lead around the plateau and guarantee a fantastic view of the surrounding Dolomites. You can tackle the ascent on two wheels and enjoy a well-deserved rest in one of the many mountain huts. However, it is also possible to reach the Alpe by cable car, so you can start your mountain bike tours directly from the mountain station.

You can also easily reach many villages in the surrounding area by e-bike, for example Tagusa, San Costantino, San'Osvaldo and Umes, or you can cycle to the Fiè pond and Castle Presule.

The South Tyrolean Dolomites are a true paradise for climbing enthusiasts. The Catinaccio and the Sciliar with their imposing steep walls, bizarre rock peaks and steep gullies make climbing an unforgettable experience. In summer, guided tours are offered for beginners and experts.

To prepare for the climbing season, there is nothing better than the bouldering hall at the Telfen Sports Centre in Castelrotto. Here you can improve your fitness and strength.

Castles, mystical places and museums that invite you on a journey into the past: There are many sights around the Alpe di Siusi. Particularly noteworthy are Castle Presule, the stone formation of the witches' benches and the school museum in Tagusa.

Today, as many years ago, culture and traditions are an important part of the daily life of the region's inhabitants. On festival days, the various associations of the village, such as the music band, provide entertainment. Traditional costumes are also still worn for these festivities. You can admire them, for example, at the Bauernhochzeit (peasant wedding), which takes place every two years in Castelrotto.
