Excursions ... ... into a colourful natural scenery

A holiday in the Plan de Corones holiday region mainly implies one thing: lots and lots of nature. The home mountain of Brunico is itself a popular skiing and hiking destination, but the surrounding nature parks of Fanes-Sennes-Prags and Rieserferner-Ahrn along with numerous rustic lateral valleys are also inviting places to explore, dwell and marvel.

Earth pyramids of Perca: The earth pyramids of Perca, at the border of the Riesenferner-Ahrn Nature Park, are a natural work of art. The clay columns have been formed over many centuries through landslides, snowmelt and erosion. The fascinating formations can be reached either via the short and easy pyramid trail or during a somewhat longer circular hike.

The Parliament of the Marmots: Located at the heart of the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park, this hike leads you from the Pederü hut up into the legendary Fanes area. Your destination is the Parliament of the Marmots: rock layers stacked on top of each other that are home to the small rodents. The Fanes hut and the Lavarella alpine pasture are also nearby.

The Concordia 360° circular panoramic trail: This circular trail located directly on the Plan de Corones offers wonderful panoramic views of the Dolomites and the main ridge of the Alps. The easy hiking trail has been equipped with various viewpoints that were designed by South Tyrolean artist Helmut Pizzinini.

There are two delicacies especially worth mentioning in the Val Pusteria. One are the "Niggelan", a deep-fried dessert made of yeast dough, and the other are the "Pusterer Tirtlan".
