The sunny gateway to the Dolomites

Laion is situated at an altitude of 1,100 m on a sunny mountain ridge at the entrance to the Val Gardena. Besides the main village, the municipality includes the hamlets of Novale di Laion, San Pietro, Albions, Ceves, Tanurza and Freina. Laion is considered a particularly strategic destination: from our holiday flats you can reach the towns of Chiusa and Bressanone after only a few kilometres.

The picturesque mountain village is the perfect holiday destination for families. Numerous mountain huts characterise the surroundings and playgrounds invite you to romp around. Family-friendly hiking trails and cheerful events for young and old round off the offer.

In the surroundings of Laion in the Valle Isarco, the rugged rock formations of the Dolomites unite with idyllic high alpine pastures, gentle vineyards and noble chestnut groves. Get on your mountain bike or explore the unique natural landscape on foot. The so-called "Törggele" hikes, which lead across the sunny low mountain plateaus of the Valle Isarco Dolomites, are also particularly popular.

Be sure to visit one of the many churches in the area, such as the Church of St. Nicholas in Albions with an elaborate Gothic winged altar or the Church of St. Catherine in Novale di Laion with a beautiful altarpiece. The oldest church in the Laion municipal area, dedicated to St. Bartholomew, is located in Tanurza. The church of St. Maria in Laion houses an interesting high altar with Gothic and Renaissance elements and can be visited daily.
